High Shine

Christmas Vacation

I left this Christmas flamingo (bearing a loaf of potica and a Salt City candle) in Jo's car, where it spent the night (she wanted to take it in the next morning to spend the week at City Hall). When Don went to start her car in the garage the next morning, he nearly had another heart attack.

This is the accidental Christmas fish. I've named him Hexagon.

Making Potica

Grandma's ancient, oft-amended, semi-legible recipe

Shelled walnuts

The only place to clamp the Ward's grinder was on the desk in Mom's office.

Ground walnuts with spices

Pudding

Yeast rising

A lot of kneading (I remember Grandma just mauling the dough for what seemed like forever- Mom does it the same way) and time for rising
