Monterey is a road trip I've been putting off for far too long. I've enjoyed too many Steinbeck novels — Cannery Row, in particular — to have stayed away as I have.
I'd have to say I'm a little jealous of your mom right now.
I'm going to read Cannery Row in honor of the day; I absolutely loved Travels with Charlie, and planned when young to outfit my own Rocinante some day. My '87 Raider Monte is as close as I got, but he may make the 17-Mile-Drive yet. Mom said it took them all day take that trip.
Dad always talked about the 18th Green, so that's also significant. I was forever painting cars from the Concourse D'Elegance for him, glinting in the sunlight and perched on the bluff (usually my favorite, the '33 Pierce Arrow Silver Arrow, an orgasm on wheels - there's one of three remaining in Danville, CA).

I used to live about an hour away from this beach... Sometimes I wonder why on Earth did I move back to Wyoming!?!?!?
I spent almost 10 years in San Diego. Don't think I never feel the same way, especially on days like last Tuesday, when we got 2 inches of snow.

Don't worry. We're all jealous of Mom.
