Holiday

September 19th! National Talk Like a Pirate Day! You know I love Dave Barry. Maybe you didn't know I also adore Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball. Now you do. I also love this page, which made me laugh. Translate your own blog, or do mine. Make life a little more ridiculous.

This be a fine holiday indeed... It's been wild times this morning at Hillcrest, partially due to the passing around of our CEO's Letter from our webpage, translated into PirateSpeak, thanks to your link! One of the Pirate Name Generators says your name is "Frownin' Bette Dagger," which is slightly more exciting than mine, "Dirty Mary Bonney"...

Ha! At least mine involves a weapon, but I don't like the suggestion that I am an unhappy soul. Dirty Mary... I think I'll keep calling you Larry. After ten years it's hard to quit.

Thanks for the linky thingies for the Pirate stuff.

My incessant ramblings take on an even worse form of rambling now. Brilliant.

I don't know what's worse my pirate name which is Iron Leg Henson or my real name Loweded Wookie. :-)

Love the site by the way and I also have to thank you for the suggestion to turn on the word verification thingy.

Actually the word I had to type for this comment is a little ironic. It's bpdad. My dad owns a service station and the company he gets his petrol from is currently Shell but they're stiffing him and clearing off, so now he's going to get his petrol from BP.

Anyway enough rambling. Have fun.

It's a crazy small world, isn't it? Full of whacky coincidences. My big sis works for BP. Actually she's contract. There's a lot of oil company presence in my town, as we're just south of one of the major drilling locations in the US. And you know what? We don't mind. Neither does the wildlife, some of which you resemble. I like your fur.

Where I'm from we too are a heavy energy rich area.

Taranaki has a mountain right in the middle of it as well as being largely coastal and as such we have 14 oil wells, a gas plant and a couple of oil rigs out to sea.

The oil rigs are cool, they pump the oil in but at the same time they pump gas in. Once on land the mixture gets sent to a pump at the township of Oanui where the oil and gas are seperated. Gas goes to gas plant, oil to the refinery at Marsden Point out of Auckland.

Dad used to work at the gas plant and I tell you it is one seriously amazing place.

But it's funny what you say about animals not minding. All the greeny people all think that the animals are adversely affected but they all seem to get on just fine really. Mind you Taranaki is also a heavily dairy province so cows seem to be able to live anywhere. :-)
