Turnaround
And just like that I'm happy and hopeful and expectant again. Aren't hormone swings just wonderful things? My boss won the nearly $1k pot at Kate's Tuesday night. Mr. Jensen is predicting a bull market. Today was my Friday, and I spent it watching Celeste do jar tests and betting on the effectiveness of various doses of a new polymer coagulant, Ultrion 8185. We used water from the reservoir, as opposed to the river, which is still running pretty clean despite the recent thaw causing muddy runoff. The reservoir, however, is always plenty nasty enough to create dramatic results in the jar test. Unless the word "flocculator" is part of yourdaily vocabulary, you may never know how cool it is to watch dirt and organic particles clump together and settle out, leaving behind the clear, pure water that eventually comes out of your tap. And yes, The Flocculator would make a good name for a superhero.

I caught up on my reading today at work (shhh! don't tell the boss) and entertained my co-worker by reading aloud various of your passages having to do with coagulant and parts per million, which I find to be remarkably literary in spite of — or perhaps because of — their technical nature.
Thanks, too, for the shout-out in your St. Pat's post. Unfortunately, I can't take credit for "with the heat of a nova," either. I lifted it from the character Toby Ziegler on a West Wing episode penned by Aaron Sorkin. Because if you're going to steal, steal outright, and steal from the best, I always say. (Among other gems Sorkin wrote for Toby was his remark regarding a salad he was eating, "which, by the way, you could pour barbecue sauce all over and it would still taste like the ground.")
And lest I forget: You were right. The hot Tang rocks.
That you read my posts at all, let alone aloud, I take as a great compliment. I could almost die happy, but I have to go to New York City in June first. Then again, maybe I shouldn't tempt fate.
Sorkin! Yes. Undisputed king of great lines: "you can't handle the truth!" Unfortunately I don't watch TV or I might enjoy West Wing. I'll remember your mantra regarding thievery. Makes sense to me.
I knew you'd like hot Tang. I've been wondering how to make money off that little trick. To be honest, it was a happy accident at the City Hall water cooler when I hit the red tab one day instead of the blue, but it seems to me that most great inventions began as accidents, like Post-it Notes and penicillin. Go figure.
